We are reaching the homestretch of Colton's journey to finding love on Season 23 of 'The Bachelor'.
I don't know about you, but I am still waiting for the fence jump to air that was featured in the preview for this season of 'The Bachelor'.
Hometown dates take place on this week's episode of 'The Bachelor'! According to Colton, "family means everything." Without further ado, let's get started with Week 8's recap!
Caelynn - Fredericksburg, Virginia
Colton's first hometown date is with Caelynn. He meets Caelynn's family in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Caelynn and Colton ride in a horse and buggy around town. They make a pit-stop for ice cream at Carl's. Later in the day, Colton enjoys a meal with Caelynn's family.
Caelynn's sister, Ariana, sees the connection Caelynn has with Colton, but she has a lot of "reservations" about this and is intrigued to know where Caelynn stands with everything going on. Caelynn fills Ariana in about how she told Colton about the sexual assault, and how her relationship with Colton has progressed on a deep level. Ariana is concerned about the sincerity of Caelynn and Colton's relationship.
Colton tells Caelynn's mom about how he told Caelynn that he is falling in love with her, and how him and Caelynn have had obstacles to overcome. Caelynn's mom is having trouble wrapping her head around the relationship, and she is unsure about whether him and Caelynn are ready for an engagement.
Caelynn tells her step father, John, about how she sees a nice alignment and a future with Colton. She compliments John about how he has exemplified what a true father is. John, Caelynn's step father, is a little skeptical about what Colton's intentions are with Caelynn. He is very protective of his daughter. Colton still has to find out whether he is the right person for Caelynn. Colton asks for John's permission to marry Caelynn. John gives permission for Colton to marry Caelynn and to be welcomed into their family...as long as his marriage with Caelynn would be a lifelong commitment.
Colton and Caelynn's date ends with them watching a few home videos from Caelynn's childhood.
Hannah G. - Birmingham, Alabama
Colton's next hometown date takes him to visit Hannah G. in Birmingham, Alabama. Hannah is "over-the-moon excited" to show Colton "what the south is all about." Hannah attempts to turn Colton into the perfect Southern gentleman before he meets her family, and what better way to accomplish that than by taking an etiquette class.
The intentions of the etiquette class are for Colton to learn some tips before he meets Hannah's family. Colton demonstrates his fantastic posture by walking while balancing a book on top of his head. Hannah, Colton, and the instructor move to the table.
What shocks Colton is the way to eat bread. According to the demonstration from the etiquette class, one must take a small bite of bread, butter it, and then eat it.
The class takes a different direction when Colton learns about the "umbrella" in Hannah's life. Hannah's parents have been holding a (figurative) umbrella over her head since she was young, but now it's time to find a man that Hannah's parents are willing to pass the umbrella to.
Fast forward to the evening when Colton has dinner with Hannah and her family. Before dinner starts, Colton shares with the group (including Hannah's Mom, Hannah's dad, Hannah's three cousin's, and her best friend) that Hannah reminds him of home. The conversations begin...The first one is with Hannah, her cousins and her best friend. The question arises about whether Hannah is concerned about Colton's virginity (alluding to how fantasy suites are just around the corner.) Hannah expresses that she is not concerned about this and how Colton's virginity is a part of him.
Next, Colton talks to Hannah's dad, Tom. Colton has known that Hannah is someone special to him since the day he met her. Moving on, Hannah's mom, Beth, shares with Hannah about how she feels about Colton. She is worried about not wanting Hannah to get hurt. However, Hannah feels safe with Colton and that he accepts her for who she is. Going back to Colton and Tom's conversation, Colton asks Tom for his permission to marry Hannah. This puts Tom on the spot, as this is something he never thought about...He is blown away with Colton's gesture and he gives Colton permission to marry his daughter. Hannah and Colton's hometown date ends with a kiss under the night sky.
Tayshia - Orange County, California
Colton heads back to the west coast (Orange County, California) for his next hometown date with Tayshia.
As you can remember in Week 4 of this season of 'The Bachelor', Colton and Tayshia went bungee jumping on their first one-on-one date. Colton and Tayshia's relationship seems to have been built on a foundation of adventure. Tayshia desires for her relationship with Colton to move on to greater heights, so she surprises Colton for them to skydive. Well, the couple goes skydiving!
Colton has been bringing out a different side of Tayshia, pushing her out of her comfort zone. Tayshia tells Colton that he is falling in love with her, and Colton tells Tayshia the same thing. Well, at least they are on the same page about that.
A dinner in the evening is held with Tayshia's family in Santa Ana. Before walking in, Tayshia puts Colton to the (name) test for who is in her family. (Colton aced the test!) Colton meets Tayshia's father, Tayshia's mother, and her two brothers. Colton is serious about his relationship with Tayshia and he addresses that to Tayshia's family during dinner. Tayshia sits down her mom to talk, and Colton does the same, except with her father. Tayshia's mom hopes that Tayshia will find a forever true love.
Colton talks with Tayshia's dad about how he has other relationships with other women that he is falling in love with. After a long conversation, Colton asks Tayshia's father, Desmond Sr., for his permission to marry Tayshia, if they get to that point in the relationship. Desmond Sr. is hesitant because he just met Colton and he is very protective of his daughter–not receiving permission to marry Tayshia. This leaves Colton with uncertainty about his future with Tayshia. Then, Colton talks to one of Tayshia's brothers, and he mentions that Tayshia is special to him. Tayshia's brother is pursuing a career in federal law enforcement, hoping to work for the FBI, and he threatens Colton that he will "hunt him down" if he hurts Tayshia.
Tayshia speaks to her father about how her past relationship was a learning experience for her. She feels confident about what she has in her relationship with Colton. Desmond Sr. feels more comfortable with his daughter's relationship. Colton sits down with Tayshia and her parents. Desmond Sr. grants Colton the permission to have his blessing to marry Tayshia, and he is "content" about this.
Cassie - Huntington Beach, California
Colton travels southwest in California for his final hometown date to visit Cassie's family in Huntington Beach. Cassie spends a gnarly day teaching Colton how to surf...Colton struggled and made many splashes, but good effort, right?
Colton meets Cassie's family later in the evening. Cassie has one-on-one time with her sister and gives her the rundown of how she feels about her relationship with Colton. Meanwhile, Cassie's father expresses to Colton about the concerns he has for her daughter's relationship with Colton. Colton asks for Cassie's father's permission for him to marry Cassie. However, Colton does not receive Cassie's father's blessing. At the end of the date, Colton asks Cassie how she feels about their relationship, but she doesn't provide him with the details about that. Cassie still feels that her hometown date with Colton went well.
The Rose Ceremony
Now onto the rose ceremony...There are four women left and only three roses that will be given out. Hannah G. receives the first rose. Colton gives his next rose to Tayshia. Cassie and Caelynn are the bottom two. Then, Colton gives the last rose to Cassie, resulting with a blindsided Caelynn being sent home. The episode ends with Colton confronting host Chris Harrison to have a chat...
Well, Bachelor Nation, stay tuned for next Monday's episode of 'The Bachelor' and Tuesday's episode of 'Women Tell All' on ABC!
