'The Bachelor' Recap: Season 23, Week 3

Another Bachelor Monday has come and gone.

Sydney is hoping that the drama is over. According to Courtney, there have been "high highs and low lows." Honey, it's only the beginning.

Chris Harrison informs the women of the layout for the week: two group dates and one one-on-one date.

The First Group Date

Ahoy, let’s begin.

Courtney, Tracy, Caelynn, Hannah B., Kirpa, Heather, Demi, and Katie arghh on the first group date at a Pirate's Dinner Adventure. An act is performed in which Colton is standing in the crow's nest of a ship dressed in a pirate outfit. Colton swoops down and shows off his acting chops and fight choreography. The women are given the task to train to be pirates. Two of them are chosen to duel and perform in front of an audience. As spectators and the other women on the date chow down on turkey legs, Caelynn defeats Tracy when they battle to rescue Colton.

Fast forward to the cocktail party. Colton’s relationship with Katie strengthens as they bond over their “effortless connection” and food, alluding to the comment she made on ‘The Ellen Show’. The drama between Tracy and Demi thickens, insinuating about the age of the women vying for Colton’s love and attention. Demi spends her time with Colton in which she blindfolds him and gently pushes a paddle to his behind. Courtney confronts Demi about how her tone and delivery are perceived, but Demi is standing her ground.

Caelynn and Colton bond over the moment they had during their pirate scene, but Hannah B. is not a fan of that blooming relationship, especially because of the tension she has with Caelynn in the past. Hannah B. tells Colton about her former friendship with Caelynn that formed when they competed for Miss USA back in the day, but has since dissolved because of a falling out. Hannah expresses her confusion about how Colton can like both her and Caelynn even though they are different from one another. Colton addresses the situation to Caelynn, and Caelynn tells Colton about how her and Hannah have differences in handling competition. The group date ends and Colton gives the group date rose to Caelynn.

The One-On-One Date

Elyse is chosen to go on the one-on-one date with Colton. The two fly in a helicopter to San Diego, where they spend the day at Belmont Park.

Just when Elyse thought she was going to be the only one on the date, Colton surprises her with a group of young children to join them in having fun at the amusement park. They ride the carousel, play games, and serve ice cream to the kids. Colton and Elyse share a kiss while riding a roller coaster. The one-on-one date continues to a dinner in the evening. Elyse opens up to Colton about how her sister was diagnosed with cancer during her pregnancy, rejected treatment so the baby could live, causing her to pass away. Elyse receives the one-on-one date rose. Colton and Elyse’s date comes to an end at a private concert with Tenile Arts.

The Second Group Date

Strong relationships are beginning to emerge early in the season, but Colton is still on the lookout for a strong woman to be his rock and life partner.

Nicole, Catherine, Cassie, Onyeka, Sydney, Nina, Caitlin, and Taysha are invited to go on the second group date. The women have heart eyes and gush over shirtless Colton.

Terry Crews and his wife, Rebecca, make a special appearance to have a quick workout with the women and Colton. Colton gets a sneak peek of the physical strength these women possess. The women go head to head against each other in ‘Bachelor’s Strongest Woman’ competition. Fred Willard commentated on the competition alongside Chris Harrison. The first event is to push a 100-pound wedding cake down the aisle. Then, a few women had to lift a large truck tire that was in the shape of an engagement ring. The third event involves three women dragging a limo without any assistance. The final event is a race carrying a heavyweight. Onyeka wins the competition, and receives the title, ‘Bachelor’s Strongest Woman’.

Moving on to the cocktail party, the pressure is on for some women to form a connection with Colton. Meanwhile, Nicole opens up to Colton about her family's roots and the impact they have had on her life. Glimpses into the other connections Colton is forming with Onyeka and Cassie are fluttering like butterflies. Colton feels that his relationship with Caitlin is falling behind the others in regards to romance. He has hope for their connection to grow, but is unable to get to know Caitlin on a deeper level, which leads him to sending her home. Colton gives the group date rose to Nicole.

The Pool Party

Chris Harrison informs the women that there will not be a cocktail party in the evening, and that there will be a pool party instead filled with soaking up the sun with a shirtless Colton. Hannah G. expresses her concern from not being chosen to go on a date this week, but Colton reassures Hannah about the positive feelings they stand in their relationship.

Heather inquires Hannah B. about whether she will tell Colton the truth about her history with Caelynn. Watch out Caelynn, Hannah is "a tank of rage" and "the beast is about to come out."

Caelynn talks to Colton about the drama she has with Hannah B. Colton and Hannah have a talk about what Caelynn shared with him. Onto the continuation of the pageant queen drama.

The Rose Ceremony

Bri, Catherine, and Nina are eliminated at the rose ceremony.
